Fall is a favorite season for many. The cooler temperatures are a welcome change. And for those that live in the right location, the turning leaves provide a beautiful backdrop for some fun fall activities. Lake Sundown is definitely one of those areas that offers not only a colorful landscape but opportunities for cool weather activities as well.

Fall is a perfect time to come and enjoy the landscape of Lake Sundown. The south side of the lake is filled with numerous types of trees that change to a brilliant red, orange, and yellow in October and November. It is an ideal location for nature lovers to sit outside and enjoy a warm cup of apple cider or for nature photographers to capture a gorgeous image. According to the Iowa DNR the fall colors peak in Southeast Iowa the second through fourth weeks of October.

Another popular fall activity at Sundown is hunting. Whether its deer, turkey, water fowl, or small game, this area provides a plethora of wild game.
